Its all good! at an auction a couple of months ago this painting sold. for a good chunk or change$$ so  "Free the Children" did well and so did I. im told its now part of a corporate collection in Toronto .           http://www.artforachange.ca/ 

6 of 9 "peanut paintings" (small) for one of the gallery's im in that wants them for some Christmas gift baskets.

                     12" by 16" oil on canvas,  "Toronto row houses"  Ill be doing more of Trisha soon but I have other paintings I need to do including this one and a bunch of  6" by 6" " "wine glass paintings"

     Step 2:    An unfortunately poor photograph but it doesn't matter . I used walnut alkyd and thinner to speed up drying time on the red umber so I was able to work on it a day later. after a bit more refining in the red umber I jumped into the "dead colour" phase , a simple close enough is good enough colour match and blocking in of basic shapes etc. its easy to see lack of detail and an unrefined look including a need to improve on the accuracy of Trisha's face . I still need to "make it more like". It is now that the painting actually starts.

    OK!, what the heck! ill try to put this "study" on here as a step by step in the classical style . 11"by14" oil on board of Trisha. first step over the imprimatura im using old Holland red umber to draw the image and develop some values . When it drys a bit ill work the values some more.

                                      do and maybe ill try a bigger canvas later...

Three little pigs

 this first one was done about a year ago and most people wondered what was I thinking, but I liked it. when it went into the Westmount gallery it sold quickly and I was asked to do a couple more. and the gallery's love them.

Using the classical style of painting and lighting (single light source) this took several days, and a decision at the end was to leave the background as is or fill it in with burnt Umber.

I thought I was being lazy by not finishing but I like the effect.
