 the fast loose style of painting still makes me a bit uncomfortable but im going to keep trying until its second nature. its something ill need if im to start doing more "plein air" work...

19 Light Dragoon

hmmm... Okay, war of 1812! 30by40 oil on canvas. 19 light Dragoon.  the painting is to be about the horse and uniform so the high noon sun casting a shadow over the riders face works for me . the riders face is much more visible when viewing the painting itself, the camera makes it look darker but anyone who knows the rider would see him easily and know who he is .

        Well, its not easy for me but I thought I would try some alla prima , here are two samples 12by 16 oil on canvas and 11by 14 oil on board. I would love to become comfortable doing a loose free style like this but....im not sure... it took a wile for me to even show anything. this is some of what Im calling a year of "experiments" and" lessons" and why Iv posted almost nothing this year....... 

Hello out there...this year iv been painting but I havent been showing any of my work, most of what iv done has been "experimental ",also a rather long commission that is as of now unfinished .
   The above painting is a 12" by 16" study . the photo was taken from my iPhone and not the best. Unfortunately the painting was damaged and this is the only image I have of it. I wasn't going to show it because of my frustration over its demise but then ,...what the heck!!! 

                6 by 6 oil on board "espresso and brandy " im dropping this and seven other small paintings off at Westmount gallery today , in time for a miniatures art show in a couple of weeks...
